In Search of Janey Reynolds - The Last of the Real Pin-Up Girls

MEMPHIS TN (IFS) -- By the end of the 1960's, a lost art of the WWII pin-up girl was all but over.  Most of the great pictures we have of these beautiful women are in Black & White.  These images once considered "taboo" and just pornography is up for the high dollar price for original copies of these photos.  After the Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, and everyone one else in the picture with a porno video, this ledge is considered the bottom of the barrow for collectors.  However, "soft porn pin-up girls" is what the market is demanding right now.  Single lens reflex action with a good eye and a fast finger have given these ladies of a longtime ago and  a era of just that -- memories of these women  fixed in time is priceless for collectors.

EBay.com's bins are overloaded with "soft pron" memories from WWII.  But whose pictures dominate the listing and the sample sites. .  . Janey Reynolds.  You will pay a pretty penny for these reprints from the original negatives and slides.

In the early 1950's the famed "Pin-Up Models" from WWII carried over into the new era of photography.  The boys of the war only got the "clean" image photos that you could send home to mother.  But now, the estates of many of these actresses, i.e., Hedy Lamarr's full color photos of her in the nude in various positions, is a little to much to believe, as this girl invented the US Navy's torpedo.

Not much is known about Ms. Janey Reynolds from Canada.  She has changed her name as many times as some countries.   Ms. Reynolds photographs have appeared in over 1,000 magazines all over the world.  She is considered the most photographed woman in the world.

Let's not just point fingers at the "bad" girls, as one must exclude Ms. Lamarr's full nude from the other girls who just wanted to get their pictue taken, and exclude the one girl that is that most photographed woman in the world at that time was Miss Janey Reynolds.

The pictures of these glorious females in all their abundant beauty and form is all that is left of these media industry pioneers.  There are very few stories of these ladies, especially Miss Janey Reynolds of Canada.

The color film and the new cameras of the day were made for each other.  The topless form of photography with female models was known as "soft porn".

Ms. Reynolds, by far was the most photographed pin-up girl ever.

Rosamond High School's Richard Harvell is missing in a flash flood

Family joins search for 67-year-old man swept away during California mudslide

This undated photo provided by the Harvell family shows Richard Harvell, 67, of Boron, Calif., in the Mojave Deseert 70 miles north of Los Angeles. Friends and family members have joined authorities in searching for Harvell, apparently swept away during flash flooding that inundated California homes and roads last week. Kern County sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt said Monday that Richard Harvell of Boron was last seen Thursday evening, Oct, 15, while trying to save his truck from a torrent of mud. Pruitt says Harvell's truck was later found a short distance away in the Rosamond area. (Courtesy Harvell Family via AP)
Richard Harvell's family and friends have joined authorities in searching for the 67-year-old man, following floods that swept through his camping area in California last week.

Harvell was hit by mud and water as he tried to climb into his truck Thursday while a ferocious thunderstorm sent mud, water and debris down a mountainside, inundating roads, homes and vehicles.

Harvell had been camping in the flash-flood zone at the foot of the Tehachapi mountains with a boyhood friend who watched helplessly as he was washed away, his daughter Susan Garcia said Monday.
Family and friends have been searching with a Kern County Sheriff's Department rescue team in looking for him, their efforts sometimes interrupted by bad weather, Garcia said.

The team was using cadaver dogs, Garcia said, but added that she and her five siblings and their mother are holding out hope he's alive.

"We're not going to give up hope until they find him one way or another," she said.

Harvell, a Vietnam War veteran, knew how to survive in the rugged desert area near Boron, where he has lived for years, she said.

"He's definitely able to live off the grid if he had to," she said. "If it's possible for someone to survive this it would be him."

Teams searched the foot of the mountains in the open desert near communities hit hard by mudslides. The area, which saw up to 6 feet of muck, is south of State Route 58 in Tehachapi, where Thursday's powerful thunderstorms triggered massive debris flows that trapped more than 100 cars, buses, RVs and big-rig trucks.

On Monday crews hauled away the last of the trapped vehicles, but tons of hardened mud still needs to be removed before traffic starts flowing again, officials said.

Drainage systems also need to be cleared along an 8-mile stretch of the highway about 80 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, said Florene Trainor, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Transportation. Officials hope to reopen the highway by Thursday.

Geologists determined that nearby hillsides were stable, so there were no fears of another mudslide if it starts raining again, Caltrans officials said.

Carrie Bowen, a district director at Caltrans, said the agency is reviewing storm response to see if Caltrans could have done anything better, a standard procedure following major events.

"I don't know that we could have given the volume of mud," Bowen said.

GE Threatre - I'm A Fool with - Roy Glenn, James Dean, Eddie Albert, Natalie Wood, Ronald Reagan

The best thing about this episode for me was the beautiful baratone voice of Mr. Roy Glenn. Mr. Glenn plays Burt.

Some reviewers have said that James Dean is not so good because he mumbles his lines and even stumbles over them sometimes,
but that is exactly how someone in his postition would speak. Whether on purpose or not, it makes his part more believable.

His mother tells him that if he puts up a good front he can have the world.
Unfortunately, instead of being content to be himself in the world he has entered and seems to have succeeded in, he pretends to be someone he is not.
Burt warns him about that, but he doesn't listen. Being untrue to himself brings him only misery and embarassment.

But, perhaps the biggest lie he has told himself is that it would have made no difference to Lucy if she had known he was a stable boy.
In those days she would not have even spoken to him if she had known who he really was.

SDC Digital Radio Networks Will Close Its Doors To Receiving Any And All Music For Its Broadcast Shows

SDC DIGITAL RADIO NETWORKS, SDC RADIO NETWORKS THAT INCLUDE STARMEDIA RADIO ONE, KDTN RADIO ONE, SDC RADIO ONE, SDC RADIOMIXX and SDC DIGITAL ONE has been one of Live365's most successful radio broadcasting units in the history of internet radio.

As things, the good, the bad and the ugly internet radio stations on this platform is now history and we appreciated each and everyone that had a little joy added to their lives each and everyday. It was truly a labor of love.

We introduced the world to many new artists and help create lasting legacies among many fans and artists.

It has been a great blessing as well as having something to do as reviewing great music and programming them on our flagship stations.

So what this all means is that every internet radio station is considered a full radio station and is subject to all the rules of the FCC's COMMERCIAL RADIO BROADCASTERS code.

This means that every internet radio station originating from the United States has to pay all royalties as the brick and mortar stations.

So the note from Team Live365 as follows:

1. The CRB ruling handed down in December, 2015 did NOT renew or address the expiration of the small webcaster percentage of revenue plans. At this time there is no small webcaster options except for full CRB rates.

2. Live365's long time investors have stopped funding us. As a result, we are no longer able to sustain our service.

We are sad that we are closing our doors at the end of this month. There are always possibilities that we can come back in one form or another, but at this point in time, January 31, 2016 is the last day that Live365's streaming servers and website will be maintained and supported.

This is a surprise to us as it is to all of you. We are proud that Live365 was a pioneer in the streaming music business and have provided a platform to hundreds of thousands of broadcasters to have a voice over the years.

Unfortunately, the SDC DIGITAL RADIO FAMILY must say good bye. Thank each and everyone of you again for listening to us.

Respectfully,
Kenneth Howard Smith,
SDC OmniMedia Group

Former Manhattan Prosecutor Sounds Off on Tamir Rice Case: 'F*ck America! F*ck Y'all !

On Monday, an Ohio grand jury decided not to bring charges against two police officers in the 2014 shooting death of Tamir Rice. The day after the decision was announced, Ikiesha Al-Shabazz Whittaker, a former Manhattan prosecutor, posted a video on Facebook to express her frustration with the country’s legal system. She also explained, in her expletive-laden rant, why grand juries don’t indict police officers. “I know some things that I don't think you guys know,” she says at the beginning of the video, which has been viewed more than 1.3 million times in 48 hours. “I want to share it with you because my level of outrage and frustration is at an all-time high. I don't want to be in this fucking country no more. I just want to fucking leave.”...

Natalie Cole dead at 65: R&B singer was daughter of Nat King Cole

BY Larry Mcshane
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Updated: Friday, January 1, 2016, 12:21 PM A physically weakened Cole, winner of nine Grammy Awards, was forced to cancel a string of concert performances over the last three months after a recurrence of hepatitis C linked to her earlier drug abuse.

THE APOLLO THEATER'S 80TH ANNIVERSARY DRAWS BIG NAMES LIKE GLADYS KNIGHT, NATALIE COLE, JOSS STONE AND SAVION GLOVER The daughter of music icon Nat (King) Cole scored a huge 1991 hit with “Unforgettable” — a virtual duet with her late father.

Natalie was just 15 when her father died in 1965, a decade before his daughter launched her own solo recording career. The album “Unforgettable ... With Love” spent five weeks at No. 1 on the pop charts, sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and won six Grammy Awards.

But her career exploded with her 1975 debut album that included the massive hit single “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” and a pair of Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Performance. Cole initially struggled with success, battling a devastating cocaine addiction until her manager sent her “kicking and screaming” to drug rehab in 1983, the singer recalled.

'REAL HOUSEWIVES' FINALE: RAMONA THINKS SHE'S PREGNANT, LUANN SINGS WITH NATALIE COLE She had previously experimented with drugs like LSD and heroin, but it was cocaine that sent her into a spiral as her career and marriage faltered. A first trip to rehab failed, but the second one took — and she remained sober for the remainder of her life.

Her career was soon back on track with her hit cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac,” along with the singles “Jump Start My Heart” and “I Live for Your Love.” Cole, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, wrote a pair of memoirs and starred in a 2001 made-for-TV movie “Livin’ For Love: The Natalie Cole Story.” In 2009, she received a kidney from an anonymous donor after hepatitis C forced her into dialysis.

Cole became a spokesperson for the University Kidney Research Organization, a group dedicated to eradicating kidney disease. She appeared in June 2014 at the Apollo Theater’s 80th birthday celebration. lmcshane@nydailynews.com
