Ruby Thompson, A child of the Antelope Valley California High Desert Music Scene

DAYTON, OH [IFS] -- Early pioneer of the Rosamond music scene was the young and energetic, Ruby Thompson, who help design a lot of the music of the young desert town.  Not that Ruby was the only one in town, not by a long shot.  She grew up in the company of  Billy Foster, Etta James, Donte Foster,  Bobby Mandolph, and a little-unknown band by the name of Purple Olive who had the first recording studio and record company in the little town of Rosamond at that time.

As Futura/Heavy Rock Records' in-house background singer and percussionist, Thompson did help to record many of the early recording tracks by Antelope Valley's up-and-coming local musicians.  Thompson's early recording equipment started with a Webcor Full-track Mono Recorder and an Electro-Voice microphone, on Allied/Radio Shack tape.  The TEAC 1138 - 4 Track on a quarter-inch machine, with a Sony Stereo six-channel recording board, would be the next adventure.  Thompson's creativity in the world of Country Music, local gospel groups, and singers from all over the Southern California area was touched by Ruby in some way.

The Antelope Valley was rich with talent, especially in the Rosamond California area of the Antelope Valley.  Other nation groups in Rosamond at this time, included ABC/Dot Records, the Darnells; Frank Zappa, Velvetones, and many other bands that were formed and reformed in and around the High Desert.

Ruby was always, a shy person, but very strong when it came to perfection.  At the very young age of 64 years old, we lost our dear sister to heart failure.  We will miss that golden voice and all the wonderful times creating music.

Georgia Teen campaigning for Raphael Warnock - Shot Dead

SPD Arrests Suspect in Hartridge Street Shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (December 2, 2022) – Savannah Police detectives have arrested a 42-year-old Savannah man who shot a teen outside his home on Hartridge Street on Dec. 1.

Around 5:35 p.m. officers responded to the 500 block of Hartridge Street in reference to a shooting and discovered a 15-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of non-life threating injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the teen was campaigning for Raphael Warnock for the upcoming run-off election when the incident occurred. While at the front door of one of the residences on Hartridge Street, the suspect fired a shot through the closed door, striking the teen.

Officers quickly identified and located the suspect, Jimmy Paiz, at the residence. Paiz was booked into the Chatham County jail on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

The case remains under investigation. At this point, there is no indication the shooting was politically motivated.
