Geography Album graphic

Hello, friends around the world!

3 years ago, I started making this album. Never would I have thought it would take this long to complete, but needless to say, some unforeseen events hit the world in the meantime. Halfway through the process, I had to put the production on hold, take a breath, and return to complete it as soon as it became possible. Now it's finally done.

Featuring 10 songs, including 6 previously unreleased tracks, the "Geography" album will be released on all major digital platforms on February 1, 2022. If you're a Spotify user, you can pre-save it directly to your account by clicking here!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for direct links to the album on various other sites, including Bandcamp—if you prefer to download tracks as opposed to streaming.

And yes, physical CDs are currently in production, and will be available in the near future.

I produced this album myself, and I'm the sole songwriter. Every single vocal and backing vocal on it is me. I had expert help from some amazing musicians and engineers I'm very fortunate to know and call my friends, and I had wonderful support from many of you reading this right now, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

So please pre-save, or stay tuned for updates on where and how you can listen to "Geography".

Thank you,

Peace and joy,

Ann-Marita.

Bob Dylan Fires Back Against Sexual Assault

Bob Dylan Fires Back Against Sexual Assault Allegations: ‘A Brazen Shakedown Masquerading As a Lawsuit’

Five months ago, Bob Dylan was named in a shocking lawsuit for allegedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl “multiple times” in 1965. Now, the 80-year-old and his legal team have officially fired back against the complaint, describing it as “false, malicious, reckless and defamatory.”

Bob Dylan and his attorneys just recently submitted an answer to the amended complaint, which was filed in the New York Supreme Court. In brief, the action claimed that the “Hurricane” vocalist and songwriter, who purportedly maintained an apartment at New York City’s Chelsea Hotel at the time of the alleged sexual abuse, had “exploited his status as a musician” in order to “obtain control over” the plaintiff.

As part of the alleged grooming process, Bob Dylan was also said to have provided the 12-year-old victim “with alcohol and drugs,” proceeding to “sexually abuse her multiple times” – including at the aforementioned Chelsea Hotel apartment.

Terri Winston -WAM - Punk rock in the 80’s really did save me

 TERRI WINTON OF WAM

When people ask, “What inspired WAM?”, I can boil it down to my favorite things:

  • punk rock
  • technology, and
  • my Dad
My Dad was a mechanical engineer/metallurgical scientist who passed down to me his love of technology. His research lab was my playpen, and it's where I became used to being the only female in the building. In school growing up girls were pretty actively steered away from the sciences, but luckily I had my Dad. He let me be surrounded by things that inspired me, regardless of the gender norms of that time.
My dad, John, in his lab.                    Me, today, in the WAM studio.

WAM was born to recreate that environment - filled with technology and possibility for all girls, providing the support and encouragement that instills in girls and gender-diverse youth that anything is possible - even if you don’t often see yourself represented in society’s depiction of your dreams. WAM’s technology-fueled recording studios, the only ones in the world built and run entirely by women, and the many producers and engineers that we train every year are making dreams tangible realities.

And punk rock in the 80’s really did save me. The DIY ethos, a new way to express myself, the combination of art and politics and an inclusive, creative environment.

Girls on the Mic gives girls and gender diverse youth the confidence to use their voices

My Dad’s belief in me and punk rock’s utopia shaped my future and eventually led to the idea of WAM.

I appreciate each and every one of you for being a part of WAM’s family, and for believing in our vision of seeing women, girls and gender-diverse individuals fully reflected and represented in music and technology careers and in the sounds we hear every day of the year. You rock,Terri WinstonFounder and Executive Director
