Accomplished West Michigan musician releases album of original worship music featuring musicians from area churches

Grand Rapids, May 5, 2017

Forrest Wakeman announces the release of Messes to Miracles, a new album of original worship music.  The songs were written by Wakeman over the last eighteen months, a time of tremendous change and introspection for him.  The product of that season are songs that speak deeply and powerfully.

“Each song in the project represents a different phase of how God was working in my heart.  Some are direct settings or paraphrases of Psalms or other scripture passages; some are retellings of stories from the life of Jesus; while others are simply my own cries to God for wisdom, peace, and understanding of His will.”

A very special aspect of this project is the cast of collaborators who bring the songs to life.  Producer Andy Ferris (Ada Bible Church Music Director) and renowned Nashville mix engineer Shane Wilson (Crowder, Switchfoot, etc) deliver a sonically outstanding album.

The other musicians are gathered from Wakeman’s relationships with musicians around West Michigan who are part of leading our community into worship each week in their varied churches.

Ranging from South Harbor Church to Rockford’s Resurrection Life, Grand Haven’s Covenant Life and of course Blythefield Hills Baptist Church (where Forrest Wakeman is music director), it’s an assemblage of talent that is unique in bringing together skilled players and singers from a cross-section of the area to give life to new worship music together.

Wakeman is an accomplished musician, with a doctorate in piano performance and a master's degree in music composition. He has taught at Cornerstone University and Calvin College and is an active professional keyboard player, with numerous performances with national touring productions of Broadway musicals including Wicked, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease and more than a dozen others.

He’s played with the Grand Rapids Symphony, West Shore Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, and Holland Symphony in addition to dozens of other performances.

To celebrate the release of the Messes to Miracles, the album will be performed live featuring many of the musicians from the recording at Blythefield Hills Baptist Church on Friday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is free.  The church is located at 6727 Kuttshill Dr NE in Rockford.
